Dhankar Now Says 'Parliament Is Supreme'
The Free Press Journal - Bhopal
|April 23, 2025
His remarks were followed by a great deal of criticism of the apex court's handling of the case by the BJP and other Right-wing groups
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar on Tuesday again took a plunge into the judiciary versus legislature debate when, while addressing a Delhi University meet, he criticised the overreach of the judiciary and declared that "Parliament is supreme".
His remarks came exactly five days after he had stirred the pot by remarking in the backdrop of the Supreme Court's April 8 ruling on having a timeline for the President to grant assent to the Bills sent by the Governors that Article 142 of the Constitution was a "nuclear missile against democratic forces available to the judiciary 24x7".
