Displays guarantee they shall knit be forgotten

TWO communities have constructed stunning Remembrance displays made with thousands of crocheted and knitted poppies.
In Macduff, Aberdeenshire, the town’s cross and anchor has been showered with 21,000 poppies – thought to be the largest display of its kind in Scotland.
This year there are also five replica Tommy soldiers and a Spitfire plane model, made by Macduff Boatyard.
The sea of red - situated beside Macduff Parish Church - was first unveiled in 2018 to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. The display has become a much-loved annual spectacle organised by Helen Gow and Clare Nicholson.
"We started off with 10,000 poppies and it has just grown each year. We are the largest such display in the north east and probably in Scotland," said 77-year-old Mrs Gow.
