MGW pulls no punches, while Delap is fan of Murillo

Morgan Gibbs-White didn’t pull any punches when assessing Sunday's game and Forest seeing their dream of making the top five slip away.

The playmaker hinted a lack of experience of such situations might have impacted the team’s form at such a crucial stage of the season, with a run of one win in their last six League games proving costly.

An honest Gibbs-White told Sky Sports: “We put ourselves in the best situation possible.

“These past three or four games we've just not been good enough. It’s not been to our standard.

“We played good with the ball (against Leicester) but we can’t concede two goals like that - especially with our form. Throughout the season we've been so good at taking the lead and then seeing the game out. It's just frustrating.

“It's been a tough season, very demanding, especially when we've put ourselves in the positions we have. I can’t put a reason on (the drop-off). Fatigue? Tiredness? But we can’t make excuses because the fans deserve better.

“We've secured Europe, it’s incredible but we wanted more. Our and our fans’ expectations were Champions League a few games ago.

“None of us have been in this situation before. We handled it well at first but as it’s started to come away from us we haven't handled it so well.

“It's down to experience, maybe, in these positions, but we're new to it. We're still building as a team and a club.

“If you'd have said at the start of the season we'd secure Europe with two games to go, we'd have snatched your hand off. We have to look at it in a positive way but also recognise the opportunity was there.”

Murillo praise

Ruled out with a suspected hamstring problem against Leicester, Murillo was a big miss for the hosts. The Brazilian has played a huge role in the Reds getting to where they are this term and has improved having Nikola Milenkovic alongside him.
