Markers are being placed on 'unsafe' graves in churchyards

Unsafe headstones in three South Ribble graveyards will be laid flat - unless the families responsible for the memorials make them safe.
St Saviour's Church in Bamber Bridge is one of those to have had its graveyard inspected
That is the warning from South Ribble Borough Councilthat has been carrying out safety inspections at churchyards.
The local authority has examined the churchyards of St Mary’s in Penwortham, St Leonard's in WaltonLe-Dale and St Saviour's in Bamber Bridge, a meeting of the council’s governance committee was told.
Any gravestones deemed to be a danger have been marked with a white stake.
