Campaign Evolved, but Halo didn't

HERE we go again. Once more, Halo fans have a nice-looking set of keys being jangled before them.
This series, which has truly earned the right to be labelled ‘iconic’, has been in a state of limbo for so long now; not quite dead, definitely not alive.
With the recent unveiling of ‘Campaign Evolved’, a remake of the classic first entry, I find myself feeling a certain amount of ‘meh’. And sadly, I don't think I'm alone in this.
Yet again, developer 343's answer to a flatlining title is to slap a shiny coat of paint on one of the series’ past golden childs.
