Tributes as gran Pauline dies in collision as town prepared for horror smash funeral

TRIBUTES have flowed for a grandmother described as “an absolute lady with the biggest smile” who died following a crash.

The collision involving two cars and a lorry happened at Bridge Street at around 11.25am in Ardee, Co Louth, on Friday.

It took place hours before the town was preparing for the funeral of Dylan Comm-mins, one of the five victims of the horrific crash outside Dundalk last weekend.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene.

The driver and only occupant of one the cars was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was pronounced deceased. A postmortem will take place in due course.

The victim has been named locally as grandmother Pauline Sweeney, 74, from Tierney Street in Ardee.
