PETER Auty (Mail Box, June 27) says that I set him dozens of banal, meaningless questions in response to his concern about who pays for building and updating our power sector.

Peter is especially bothered about renewable energy, which last year generated more electricity than gas for the first time.
Maybe I wasn’t clear enough. Peter might as well ask who pays for the new road that he likes to drive on. It’s an investment which becomes an asset.
Where investment is shared between the taxpayer and the private sector, confidence is increased and progress is easier to make.
