Unease in MVA over Pawar sharing the stage with Modi

The decision of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar to share the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function in Pune on Tuesday has caused unease among allies in the opposition coalition, people familiar with the matter said on Monday.
Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders are of the view that Pawar should avoid attending the Pune function as it may give a wrong message about opposition unity.
Pawar is expected to attend an event in which Modi will be conferred with the Lokmanya Tilak Award in recognition of his "supreme leadership" and for "awakening the feeling of patriotism among citizens". The award was constituted in 1983 to honour the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak and is presented every year on August 1, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak.
