'Bim Bissell's party': Family, friends and art patrons gather to celebrate the Dame of Delhi

NEW DELHI: It started as a dull, foggy winter day but then Bim orchestrated the weather. Sunlight managed to pass through, and as hot cups of tea were passed around at Travancore Palace on Thursday, it had started to resemble a day you go out for a picnic.
And a celebratory picnic it was-in memory of Bimla Bissell, co-founder of clothing and home furnishing brand Fabindia, who passed away on January 9. She was 93 years old.
"She was born in 1932 in a Punjabi family and lived like one too. She was loud, colourful and full of warmth," said photographer Ram Rahman, who was one of the many friends of Bissell who attended the tea party, hosted by her children Monsoon and William, and other members of the family.
