Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday underlined his vision for building a Viksit Bharat (developed India) as he lauded the Union government for saving "lakhs of crores of rupees" by preventing corruption and detailed the efforts his administration took to help marginalised groups, women, farmers and young people.
NEW DELHI:
Replying to the two-day discussion on the motion of thanks to the President's address in the Lok Sabha, Modi highlighted that the President's address strengthened the resolve for Viksit Bharat, created new confidence, and inspired the general public. "For Viksit Bharat, what we need is not tushtikaran (appeasement) but santushtikaran (satisfaction). We are walking on that road, treating every section of the society without discrimination. Whatever is one's right, they will get it. This is real social justice and secularism and respecting the Constitution," he said.
During his 95-minute speech, Modi also said that bolstering the village economy and getting future-ready cities were critical to building a developed India. He also lauded the National Democratic Alliance government for laying the foundation of an India ready for the 21st century.
"After 2014, 10 crore fake beneficiaries were deleted. It saved ₹3 lakh crore from falling into the wrong hands. Through the JAM (Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile phones) trinity, ₹1.15 lakh crore was saved. We got ₹2,300 crore from selling junk under the Swachhta Abhiyan (cleanliness drive). We used these savings for the poor people..." the PM informed the Lok Sabha.
