India Set to Meet 2030 SDG Targets for Infant, Maternal Mortalities

A review of past three years' achievements under Centre's National Health Mission (NHM) in the Union Cabinet on Wednesday showed India is on track to meet its health targets under the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for maternal, child, infant mortality.
NEW DELHI:
The accelerated decline in maternal mortality rate, infant mortality rate, under-five mortality rate and total fertility rate, and the progress in respect of various diseases programmes such as tuberculosis (TB), malaria, kala-azar, dengue, leprosy, viral hepatitis etc. was highlighted.
"...improvements indicate that India is on track to meet its SDG targets for maternal, child, and infant mortality well ahead of 2030," read the government statement.
