Industrial code brought in without rules for adjudicating infra, says HC

IRC IS A SPECIFIC CODE WITHIN THE LARGER LABOUR CODES. IT REPLACES LAWS SUCH AS THE INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES ACT, 1947, AND THE TRADE UNIONS ACT, 1926
The Delhi high court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the Centre's recent decision to operationalise the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 (Code), as it said that the same was done without framing the rules and constituting the tribunals required under the law to adjudicate disputes, and directed the government to take corrective steps.
The Industrial Relations Code (IRC), 2020, which is one of the four Labour Codes that were consolidated to replace 29 older labour laws, came into force on November 21. IRC is a specific, single code within the larger Labour Codes. It replaces previous acts like the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, and the Trade Unions Act, 1926, to govern industrial relations.
