Faster scan times thanks to new tech

LINCOLNSHIRE hospitals are able to deliver faster diagnostics and CT scan times thanks to new technology.

The United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has equipped its community diagnostics centres in Lincoln, Skegness and Grantham with the latest CT and ultrasound technology from Canon Medical Systems.

This technology is helping to bring essential diagnostic services closer to patients whilst also reducing wait times. It has reduced the diagnostic pressure at Lincolnshire hospitals by 40 per cent, and the Al-powered automation has resulted in reduced CT scan times from 15 minutes to 8 or 9 minutes.

There has also been a 140 per cent increase in non-obstetric ultrasound scans in 2025/26, compared to pre-pandemic levels.
