Sri Lanka will continue their tour of Pakistan
SRI Lanka Cricket (SLC) has said in a media release that the 16-member national squad, along with the team management and support staff currently touring Pakistan, have decided to continue with the tour.
This decision follows assurances provided by SLC, in close consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and relevant authorities, to ensure the safety and well-being of every member of the touring party.
Accordingly, the players, team management, and support staff will remain in Pakistan to take part in the ongoing ODI series and the upcoming T20I tri-series.
Pakistan won the first ODI played at Rawalpindi by six runs and lead the three-match series 1-0.
In the opening match, Sri Lanka were short of a third seamer as the wicket gave a lot of assistance to the quick bowlers than the spinners. In that context, Sri Lanka have opted for a 3-1 bowling combination, going with only one spinner for the second ODI today. Seamer Pramod Madushan will replace Maheesh Theekshana.
Kusal Mendis, struggling to get off a hat-trick of ducks in his last three innings in white-ball cricket, will make his 150th ODI appearance. He will become Sri Lanka’s 20th player to do so.
Meanwhile, the PCB yesterday in a media statement announced changes to the schedule of the ongoing ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as the upcoming T20I Tri-Nation Tournament involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.
