The Bristol Hippodrome will be transformed into the extraordinary land of Narnia as the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe comes to town. NATALIE BANYARD caught up with actress Katy Stephens, who stars as the tyrannical White Witch

YOU can’t fail to fall in love with the dazzling, enchanting and awe-inspiring West End production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - unless your heart is made of ice, like that of Narnia’s imperious and menacing White Witch, played by stage and screen actress Katy Stephens.

"Her Imperial Majesty Jadis, Queen of Narnia, is such an extraordinary character!" says Katy, who also plays stern and unwelcoming housekeeper Mrs Macready in the show.

“What a great role to play - although I think you have to be fairly confident in yourself to be able to go out there every day and night knowing that you're hated! It’s not for everyone.

“Although, I know the White Witch has some secret fans out there...”

Audiences are invited to step through the wardrobe this autumn into the magical kingdom of Narnia for the most spectacular adventure in a faraway land.

Based on C S Lewis's treasured novel, the sensational West End production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe has been thrilling audiences on tour, and is now roaring into the Bristol Hippodrome from September 16 to 20.

Travel through time and worlds to join Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they wave goodbye to wartime Britain and embark on the most magical of adventures in a frozen, mystical land.

Here, they become embroiled in a battle against the tyrannical White Witch Jadis, who keeps Narnia in a state of perpetual winter, and must rally the creatures of Narnia, including a friendly Faun, talking Beavers, and the majestic lion Aslan, to defeat her and restore the world.
