Robinhood, Foodpanda operators finalise deal
Bangkok Post
|May 20, 2025
Yip In Tsoi, the operator of the Robinhood app, has finalised a partnership with Delivery Hero to transition customers of the latter's Foodpanda app to its platform.
The company also aims to expand its food offerings to better serve foreign and expatriate communities in Thailand.
To support this expansion, Robinhood will soft launch its English-language version on May 20 to improve accessibility for foreign users.
"We've finalised the agreement with Foodpanda after discussions with its team in Germany over the past few weeks," Morakot Yipintsoi, president and chief executive of Yip In Tsoi, told the Bangkok Post.
Yip In Tsoi proposed the partnership to the Berlin-based Delivery Hero after the latter announced last month that it would be shutting down the Foodpanda platform on May 23.
The Robinhood agreement with Foodpanda represents a key transition in the online food delivery industry, showcasing how international brands can successfully collaborate with local businesses to drive innovation and market growth, said Mrs Morakot.
Foodpanda will not transfer data of its users or restaurants to Robinhood as doing so would violate the Personal Data Protection Act.
Mrs Morakot said Foodpanda will communicate directly with its customers to introduce Robinhood as a trusted alternative service.
For any new downloads by foreign users, Robinhood has a revenue-sharing model with Foodpanda, Mrs Morakot added without disclosing further details.
