Brothers AT WARS

WOMAN - UK

|

March 14, 2022

Princes William and Harry were once so close and now they hardly speak. We look at the rumoured war that’s broken the Queen’s heart

Brothers AT WARS

Resplendent in his military uniform and with a flash of humour for the occasion, Prince Harry’s performance as best man at his brother Prince William’s wedding gave the world a fascinating insight into their cast-iron bond as grown men.

But fast forward more than a decade and the picture is a lot less rosy. For now the brothers are geographically and emotionally miles apart. Having stepped back from royal duty, Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have started a new life in the US with their two children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, while Prince

William resides with Kate and their family in the UK.

Indeed, the much publicised rift is said to have brought a great deal of upset to Her Majesty the Queen.

So what went wrong and what were the underlying factors that drove Diana’s sons apart?

Rumours

The honeymoon period that followed Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018 was shortlived. Behind the facade of the ‘fab four’, rumours were gathering pace that all wasn’t well behind the scenes.

Reports emerged of Meghan’s diva demands leading up to the royal wedding, where Meghan is said to have demanded a tiara that was denied by the Queen, leading Harry to shout, ‘What Meghan wants, she gets!’ according to royal biographer Robert Jobson.
