Parivartana Yoga - Good Or Bad?

He completed his thesis on “Vimshamsha – understanding spiritual journey through horoscope” under the guidance of Dr. Prof. N. S. Murthy. He has also published articles on Soundaryalahari in Vijaya Karnataka newspaper.

Yoga can be described as a relationship between one planet, sign, or house to another either by mutual aspects, placement, or conjunction. There are thousands of yogas formed in a horoscope and only a daivagnya can see, understand and decode many yogas that an ordinary astrologer cannot even see. One such major yoga is called Parivartana Yoga.

Parivartana means exchange. Therefore, in terms of Jyothisha, this parlance means exchange of planets or exchange of planets’ nakshatra (called nakshatra parivartana).

Parivartana Yoga is formed by mutual exchange of houses owned by planets. We also find Parivartana Yogas formed when planets are placed in each other’s nakshatras. This exchange makes both houses very powerful and exerts their influence on these houses and also on the planets’ respective houses and NOT on all the houses they own. Additionally, these yogas should be clean and not influenced by malefic planets and there should not be any yoga-bhangas. The traditional method asks that these Parivartana Yogas be decoded only from the natal chart, especially rashi-kundali. However, there have been research conducted over the years that has led us to study this yoga in divisional charts and mundane charts also.

Classical texts like Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, Saravali etc., eulogise the presence of powerful positive Parivartana Yogas and also give clues to the native to lead austere life in cases of negative Parivartana Yogas which may influence during the native’s lifetime.
