The German-born DR Congo international first arrived on these shores in 2016 on a season-long loan at Championship side Huddersfield from FC Ingolstadt.
It couldn’t have gone much better as Kachunga bagged a dozen league goals as he helped the unheralded Terriers reach the Premier League for the first time via the play-offs.
The striker played in the top-flight for two seasons before dropping back to the second tier, first with demoted Huddersfield and then with Sheffield Wednesday. A couple of seasons followed at Bolton and brought another high point – Kachunga scored as Bolton hammered Plymouth 4-0 at Wembley in last season’s EFL Trophy final.
Achievements
With those achievements on his CV, it’s no wonder that Cambridge’s up and coming young starlets would be well advised to take heed of any tips from the 31-year-old.
