Sometimes you need a thicker skin

Criticism comes with the job, but what happens when a negative comment hits a nerve and how do we avoid crumbling at the scathing feedback?
Earlier today, I shared a picture on my Instagram feed, and someone left a comment within minutes. Naturally, I couldn’t resist the urge to check and tapped on the notification on my mobile phone with great anticipation. Sadly, it was not what I would have hoped. However, it’s a free world, and when you put your work out there, dreaming of adoration, there is always the opportunity for someone to chime in with something, whether you agree with it or not.
But it still stings.
I have to laugh at myself! After all these years in this business, you’d think I would be perfectly comfortable with the work I create; my photography, my retouching work, our training workshops and even the words you’re reading now.
But, if I have a weakness (well, okay, if I have one of many weaknesses), I genuinely care about everything I do, that I produce.
