Unique pub one of best in the UK

NESTLED amidst the beautiful hills of Pembrokeshire lies the quaint village of Rosebush. Despite its small population of just a few hundred residents, it has a knack for drawing visitors from all corners.

This is largely due to the breathtaking views, invigorating walks and the village’s historic pub - Tafarn Sinc - which never fails to amaze first-time patrons.

In 1876, a railway line was established to transport slate directly from Rosebush, situated about 12 miles north of Narberth, to London. However, the slate boom dwindled after roughly 30 years, leading to the closure of the quarry in 1908. This left the inhabitants of the 26 cottages of Rosebush Terrace jobless. The railway line ceased passenger services in 1937 and freight trains just over 10 years later.

But even more three-quarters of a century later, the village's past life still resonates here, with mannequins commemorating its heritage visible outside its historic local pub.

What makes this particular corner of Pembrokeshire even more ideal for a day or evening out is knowing that while you may feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, one of the finest pubs you'll ever encounter in Wales will make you feel like you're part of a community.

However, things could have been very different for Tafarn Sinc as it very nearly shut down for good in 2017. This was despite the fact that it has stood in its spot, in all its tin-clad glory, for nearly 150 years, initially opening as a hotel in 1876.

It's a very unique pub, its remote feel mocking the fact that it’s actually just 11 miles from the A40, which in turn links to the A48 in Carmarthenshire and continues onto the M4 all the way to London.
