Hotel lists accusations against ‘disrespectful’ U20s rugby players

THE Italian hotel in which Wales Under-20s players were staying during the recent World Rugby U20 Championships has issued a statement following alleged damage at the venue, labelling the behaviour of some players as “disrespectful’.

The Welsh Rugby Union on Monday launched an investigation into the allegations, which first appeared in the Italian media, that stated some members of Richard Whiffin’s squad had stormed the stage at a local festival and caused damage to the accommodation in which they were staying.

Hours after Wales’ final game of the tournament in Rovigo at the weekend, some of the young Welsh squad are alleged to have created havoc in the city centre, urinating on walls, stealing a microphone off an event host and knocking over furniture.

A WRU spokesman said on Tuesday in response to the initial reports that they were aware of the alleged events and were looking into the matter and would respond in full when facts had been established.
