Will rearmament again be the prelude to a world war?

I WAS 83 on June 8 and would like to share a simple thought with your readers.

When the Normandy invasion took place I was two days short of my second birthday and living at Higher St Budeaux, Plymouth. Large numbers of American troops were embarking at Saltash Passage after marching from various camps and were marching eight abreast down the road to Saltash. My mother took me down to some steps and told me to wave to the marching troops; being a young extrovert, I waved, they waved back, and I can still vividly remember doing so. My mother left me there unattended for more than an hour.
