Balaji steps down following SC directive in money laundering case; Ponmudy after controversial speech
TAMIL Nadu Ministers V Senthil Balaji and K Ponmudy resigned from the Cabinet on Sunday, with their portfolios reallocated among Ministers S S Sivasankar, S Muthusamy, and R S Rajakannappan.
Balaji's resignation follows a Supreme Court directive requiring him to choose between retaining ministerial office or obtaining bail in a money laundering case.
Ponmudy's departure stems from recent controversial remarks, which embarrassed the party and led to the loss of his post as deputy general secretary.
Governor R N Ravi accepted Chief Minister M K Stalin's recommendations to accept the resignations and reassign the portfolios.
