Naxal Lakshmi Thombattu surrenders in Udupi

NAXAL Lakshmi Thombattu alias Lakshmi Poojarthi (41), mother of two hailing from Kundapur, surrendered before Udupi district administration here on Sunday. There are three cases filed against her related to naxal activities at Amasebailu police station. The surrender process took place in the presence of DC Vidya Kumari K, SP Dr Arun K, Additional SP S T Siddalingappa, Naxal Surrender and Rehabilitation Committee member K P Sripal and other senior police officials.

Lakshmi said that she decided to surrender looking at the current situation, assurance and opportunity given by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. With other naxals surrendering, I too wanted to join the mainstream with the hope that the CM will support us. We are living in poor conditions, and my village lacks basic facilities like roads and drinking water. I had no pressure to surrender; this was my decision," she said.
