TWO TAIWAN nationals who the police say are the brains behind the biggest cyber fraud registered in Kerala were taken into custody from Gujarat on Tuesday. Wang Chun Wei, 26, and Shen Wei Haw, 35, were arrested by a special investigation team of the Gujarat police.
According to the crime branch wing of the Kerala police, the Taiwan nationals had duped a doctor couple from Cherthala in Alappuzha district of ₹7.65 crore by offering a huge profit on web-based share trading in April-June last year.
The crime branch investigation had found that the two were the brains behind the fraud perpetrated by a Taiwan company. They were brought to Cherthala and will be produced in court on Wednesday, said an officer.
