Some other suspected poachers, however, managed to flee. The incident took place at the park's Agaratoli range in the wee hours, park officials said.
Sonali Ghosh, who is the park's director, said patrolling and surveillance activities were stepped up earlier following receipt of intelligence inputs that the poachers might try to enter the park.
The authorities had also stationed some patrolling and surveillance parties in the fringe areas on May 10.
