Nhaca set to return to KwaDukuza Municipality as deputy mayor

THE ANC is set to appoint former Ilembe District Municipality member Sduduzo Gumede as mayor of KwaDukuza Local Municipality, while the town’s former mayor Lindiwe Nhaca is set to return as his deputy.
The council will hold a special meeting tomorrow to elect a new mayor and deputy mayor after uncertainty following the ANC provincial leadership’s decision earlier this month to sack mayor Ali Ngidi and his deputy, Njabulo Cele.
The special meeting was confirmed by the regional task team coordinator, Nkosenhle Mngadi. The meeting was necessitated by Ngidi’s resignation on Friday after he allegedly initially refused.
“We can confirm that the council will hold a special meeting on Thursday where a new mayor and deputy mayor will be elected. We can also confirm the current mayor tendered his resignation letter on Friday,’ said Mngadi.
