Families, human rights group support inquest into apartheid-era murders in the Eastern Cape

THE families of the slain anti-apartheid activists known as the PEBCO Three have welcomed the Department of Justice's decision to open a formal inquest into their brutal killing 40 years ago.

In a joint statement issued earlier this week, the families of Sipho Hashe, Qagawuli Godolozi, and Twasile Galela, together with the Foundation for Human Rights (FHR), said they supported the inquest, which will be heard in the Gqeberha High Court, as a long-overdue attempt at justice.

“We welcome the decision by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development to open an inquest into the brutal murder of the three anti-apartheid activists,’ they said.
