A total number of 49 Chinese warplanes entered Taiwan's air defence yesterday, as tensions continued to boil following the visit of US house speaker Nancy Pelosi to the island.

China announced yesterday it is suspending all cooperation with the US on climate change, as well as halting high-level military dialogue, in response to Ms Pelosi's visit. Its foreign ministry said cooperation on returning illegal immigrants, criminal investigations, transnational crime and illegal drugs will also be suspended.
