MUM-OF-TWO JESSICA IS SMASHING STEREOTYPES

WHEN you think of a lumberjack, Jessica is probably not what you would expect. But the mum-of-two is running a successful business and smashing stereotypes while she’s at it.

Jessica D’Aquino is the director of Lumber-jill Milling and works all around Plymouth and surrounding areas. She owns and operates a mobile sawmill and timber yard in Lee Mill industrial estate.

Originally from South Africa, the 31-year-old moved to the UK straight from school when she was just 18. Since then she’s lived in Scotland, worked as a chef, had two children and been a carer – but she hadn’t found her true passion in life until moving to Plymouth eight years ago.

Lipson resident Jessica said it was no surprise to her friends and family when she decided on the career change because she is “handy and self-sufficient”.
