New home for furniture store

A PLYMOUTH furniture store is to move out of the art deco Colin Campbell House, after finding new premises in the city centre

City Furnishers Store has occupied the two lowest floors of the landmark building for 13 years, but has been staging a closing down sale.

The business has identified another location on the high street nearby, but it is smaller than the 18,000 sq ft space it has in the art deco pile, so it has been staging a huge sale in a bid to reduce stock ahead of the move.

Sarah Rosson, owner of City Furnishers Store, said the sale ended last Sunday, but the store will not close for some time yet. She said it could be “three or four” months before the relocation.

“We wanted to stay, but are on only a three-month lease,” she said. “We saw a new location with a high street presence. The opportunity came along.”
