NINE firefighters from Saltash Community Fire Station will be running nine miles in nine hours back and forth over the Tamar Bridge today as part of a fundraiser to send paramedics and ambulances to Ukraine.
Firefighters on a ¹999 challenge" in aid of Ukraine

The station is undertaking what is being called the '999 challenge' from 9am to raise money for a not-for-profit Community Interest Company called Outreach Paramedics.

The organisation is run almost solely by volunteers and is offering paramedics, ambulances and medical supplies in response to the crisis.

Paramedics from Saltash and across Cornwall hope to head out to Ukraine either this month or in the New Year as part of a partnership with Ukrainian emergency services.

They are working alongside a charity set up by the former First Lady of Poland Jolanta Kwaniewska called Communication without Barriers.
