THE FESTIVE FUN BEGINS IN THE CITY CENTRE NEXT WEEK

- By MILES O'LEARY miles.oleary@reachplc.com

SANTA, Mrs Doubtfire and the cast of Scrooge! The Musical will all be involved when Plymouth’s Christmas lights are switched on in a grand ceremony on the Piazza next Thursday, November 13.

The cast of Scrooge! The Musical, from the Plymouth Theatre Company, are bringing a taste of their heartwarming production to the celebrations, which also include performances from a number of city schools and dance groups.

Performers from Groovement Project, Pauline Quirke Academy and Italia Conti are all taking up slots in a packed entertainment programme, which starts with school groups at 4pm.

The actual switch-on is expected to take place around 6.25pm, with Lord Mayor of Plymouth Cllr Kathy Watkin, Santa and Mrs Doubtfire, from the Theatre Royal Plymouth all joining the cast of the musical on the stage.

The evening will finish with a performance from The Sound, a South West rock band who will play covers to get the whole crowd singing and dancing.
