HECKY IS IN THE FRAME

FORMER Barnsley, Leeds United and Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom has emerged as the oddson favourite to become the new manager of Plymouth Argyle.

The 46-year-old Yorkshireman is reportedly being interviewed for the vacancy this week as Argyle seek a replacement for Ian Foster, who was sacked after just three months and 14 games in charge of the Pilgrims.

Argyle are keen to appoint another head coach - as they did with former England Under 20s coach Foster and have been advised to make a move for the former defender, who has spent virtually all of his career playing and coaching in the north.

Speaking to Football League World, former England and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer said: "Paul Heckingbottom is still out of work, he hasn't decided to take a job.
