PLYMOUTH GIN LINKS UP WITH MARINE CHARITY

A tipple which helps the seas

SIPPERS of Plymouth’s famous spirit can enjoy their cocktails with a clear conscience – if not a clear head – thanks to an extension of the partnership between Plymouth Gin and the Ocean Conservation Trust.

A new blue-tinged ‘Ocean Edition’ bottle of the famous gin has been launched, with £1 from every bottle sold going to the OCT – the charity which runs Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium.

The bottle was due to land on shelves in supermarkets last month, and is the most recent step in a partnership with the OCT which started in 2021. What’s more, a new cocktail available in the Refectory Bar at the Southside Street distillery, ‘One With Ocean’, offers a £2.50 donation to the charity – a generous proportion of the £9.50 cost of the tipple.

Featuring Cornish sea salt and an edible flower, as well as a strip of blue algae on the outside of the glass, the cocktail is the creation of head bartender Coco Derwojed, who is half-French, half-Polish and 100% determined to support the OCT cause.
