We had a dream... and £6 left in the bank

Art studio founder Caroline on never giving upon on Made in Paisley as they mark seven successful years

A Paisley art studio and gallery has celebrated seven years since opening - having started out with nothing.

Caroline Gormley and Sandy Guy got the keys to the High Street building in 2018. After paying the rent, they were left with just £6 in the bank.

The talented artists were advised to stay away from the idea, however, Caroline admits she and Sandy always believed in what they had dreamed.

And from there, Made in Paisley was born.

Despite having no funding or money set aside to kickstart the project, the couple were able to get through the tough times by putting on painting classes and asking people to pay a deposit for them.

When asked if they felt it was all too daunting, Caroline told the Express that was far from being the case.

"We started this place with £6 in the bank," she said. "Everyone was against it and everybody told us not to do it.
