Burgh host first-ever senior tie
Johnstone Burgh will break new ground today as they make their debut in the first-round proper of the Scottish Cup.
Murdo MacKinnon’s men secured a berth in the competition after winning the Junior Cup last season.
The West of Scotland League Premier Division side advanced through two preliminary rounds to take their place in the official draw.
A 4-1 victory at Irvine Meadow and a 2-1 win at the expense of Whitburn Juniors on the road has set up this afternoon’s clash with Threave Rovers.
This will be the first ‘senior’ Scottish Cup tie held at Keanie Park but it will be no easy task despite Threave’s Second Division status.
The men from Castle Douglas in Kirkcudbrightshire are relative Scottish Cup veterans when compared to Burgh and have enjoyed a sparkling start to the season.
