There are question marks over the future of the Reds captain at Old Trafford after a season which has seen him struggle to secure a regular place in the side.
He could start Saturday's FA Cup final against City, but says he is keen to play more when the new campaign starts.
"The season is not finished yet, but up to now, it's been a positive season from where we were and I must say we're making progress," he said.
