INVESTIGATION UNDER WAY INTO CAUSE OF BLAZE AT INFIRMARY

- By DYLAN HAYWARD

Food services at hospital are hit by fire in kitchen

CATERING services have been disrupted by a fire at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The blaze broke out in a kitchen late on Saturday. A significant emergency response was required, with 10 fire crews tackling the flames.

Emergency teams worked to contain the blaze into the early hours of Sunday.

No one was injured, but hospital managers said food provision for visitors had been affected.

Jon Melbourne, chief operating officer and deputy chief executive at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, said: "A fire was detected in the catering department at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Saturday night.

"Fire services quickly attended and contained the fire and no one was harmed."
