Our future... or is AI bot just a load of old chat?

IT’S every lazy students’ dream come true – a technology that will write their university essays while they party hard and watch daytime TV.

The unstoppable rise of artificial intelligence means they can now use tools such as ChatGPT to do all the hard work for them.

Although still in its infancy, suddenly it seems everyone is talking about ChatGPT.

While it may be a tragedy for education, can this fast-typing chat bot actually be a useful tool, or does it mark the beginning of the end of creativity?

Here is all you need to know…

What is ChatGPT?

It is a conversational AI language model created by OpenAI, a start-up based in San Francisco which was co-founded by billionaire and Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

Ask it a question or give it a prompt and you will get a humanlike written response.

ChatGPT can be used as a tool to chat with and is able to generate text, translate language and answer your questions.

How does it work?

The system is based on huge amounts of text data from the internet which allows it to write in the way a human might.

It also improves itself with positive or negative feedback from users. It is important to note that the chat bot is only “trained” on data up until 2021 and steers clear of opinion, thoughts and personal experiences. The accuracy of the content depends on the quality of the prompt so the more you feed it, the more you get out of it.
