Mohammad Suhail, who is among the three men arrested for allegedly conspiring to carry out a major terrorist attack with weapons and chemicals, was pursuing his studies in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district to become a religious preacher, his family said on Monday.
The Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS) on Sunday claimed to have busted a suspected terror syndicate by arresting three accused—Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, 35, a doctor from Hyderabad with an MBBS degree from China, Azad Suleman Sheikh, 20, a tailor from Kairana, and Suhail, 23, a resident of Singahi in Lakhimpur Kheri district.
“We came to know of his arrest when we tried to contact him on his mobile phone. The person on the other end inquired about our credentials and told us that Suhail had been arrested,” Suhail’s sister said.
