RANCHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday transferred financial aid to the tune of ₹1,415.44 crore to the bank accounts of 5.6 million women under the "Maiyan Samman Yojana".

Soren transferred the amount during a ceremony at Namkum in Ranchi, which was initially scheduled for December 28 last year, but got postponed due to the national mourning following the demise of former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Addressing the event, Soren said, "We are ready to touch new heights. The state, which underwent exploitation for decades, is ready for a new flight."

Under the scheme, launched in August 2024, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led alliance pledged to increase the monthly dole to women aged between 21 to 50 years from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 starting December 2024.
