True luxury should not harm the planet: Emirati jeweller

Adi Al Fardan emphasises that true luxury in jewellery should honour nature and heritage, promoting sustainability and ethical practices

An Emirati millennial, privileged to plunge into God-given nature since childhood, has underscored the verve and the relevance of the virtue of responsibility for a legacy for generations to learn from, despite progress and constant change.

"In a world where natural resources are under threat and climate change is accelerating, we must act with care," Adi Al Fardan told Gulf Today.

Al Fardan, who established his own jewellery company that bears his own name, at age 23, added: "True luxury should not come at the expense of the planet."

The 33-year-old Sharjah-born was the resource speaker at the first panel - "Pearls in Jewellery Making" - of the "From Oyster to Crown" exhibition at the Bait Al Naboodah Museum, within Sharjah's Heritage Site.

Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA), the organiser of the exhibition concluding on April 6, 2026, invites the public to dive into the annals of the pearls industry wherein Sharjah figured prominently. Evidence are the remnants that include the excavated from the Souk Al Shanasiyah.
