Stirton: Eating 4,000 calories a day is bulking me up to succeed at United

OWEN STIRTON is hungry for success at Dundee United after revealing how he is tucking away 4000 calories a day in a bid to become a Premiership heavyweight.

The striker made his second start of the season in Tuesday's 3-1 win at Livingston just hours after signing a new deal to keep him at Tannadice until summer 2028.

And teenager Stirton reckons he is now in a better place to handle the physical nature of topflight football after being a pushover when he first earned promotion to the first team.

The boyhood United fan, who scored nine goals in 14 league outings on loan at Montrose last season, said: "When I came in, I was about 72 kilos and I'm about 82 now, so I've put on about 10 kilos.
