MOTHER'S DAY DELIVERY

March 27, 2025

WHEN Kylie Baxter, 36, takes her mum Sue Baxter, 71, out for Mother's Day lunch on Sunday they will be trying hard not to talk about work. But that's sometimes easier said than done after 19 years working together for logistics giant Yodel near their hometown of Oldham in Greater Manchester.

MOTHER'S DAY DELIVERY

What do you do?

I've been a team manager for nearly two years now at the Preston depot and have been at Yodel for 19 years.

Mum works as a neighbourhood courier at Yodel's Middleton site and has been with the company for more than 25 years.

Why did you join Yodel?

I was inspired by both of my parents working in the industry. My dad was the first to become a courier, with my mum later joining him on the road, helping to deliver parcels together.

That's where I got my first taste for delivering parcels. I learned from the best.

I started delivering in my own vehicle as an independent third-party courier. Even so it was never the plan to follow in their footsteps-it just happened.

As I gained experience as an independent, I realised that I wanted to develop and gain some more responsibility.

After working as a courier for a number of years at Yodel, I later applied for the team manager role and I haven't looked back since.

Are there downsides to you both working together?

I wouldn't say downsides - it's nice to have another thing in common and have each other to talk to.
