Jorginho lauded as Chelsea's 'smartest' just as they ditch him in Fernandez hunt

CHELSEA may have spent the last hours of the window chasing a British transfer record, but Arsenal made the smartest deadline-day signing.

That's the view from within Stamford Bridge - just ask their left-back Marc Cucurella.

The Spain international was being interviewed by Goal.com while negotiations were ongoing over the signing of Enzo Fernandez and, separately, the potential sale of a player in the Argentinian's position.

Quizzed about his team-mates, Cucurella said: "The smartest player in the squad is Jorginho - 100 percent."

Cue frowns off camera. "Err, I don't think he plays for Chelsea any more. He's transferring to Arsenal."
