Joint plan to make sure new developments are in keeping with character of town centres

OFFICIALS are looking at where new housing can be built - and how town centre developments can be made without ruining the character of an area.

South Holland District Council and Boston Borough Council are developing a new joint local plan which will outline new rules for how and where land can be developed.

The authorities are also developing a strategy for conservation areas in Spalding, Holbeach and Boston which will set out how existing buildings can be modified to ensure they preserve the character and identities of local areas.

Both the joint plan and strategy for conservation areas were discussed at a South East Lincolnshire Joint Strategic Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 27.
