Police nab IT executives accused of VAT evasion

Economic Crime Suppression Division police arrested two IT company executives yesterday for allegedly defrauding over 70 million baht in value-added tax (VAT).

The suspects have been identified as Suwat, 60, who was apprehended in Bangkok’s Min Buri district, and Saichon, 53, who was arrested in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district.

Both men face charges of colluding through deceit, fraud, trickery, or similar means to evade or attempt to evade tax obligations, or to unlawfully request tax refunds.

They were also charged with acting jointly as business operators with the intent to evade or attempt to evade VAT by failing to issue tax invoices, debit notes, credit notes, or substitute documents as required by law, police said.
