BJT MP jailed 13 years for embezzlement

The Khon Kaen Provincial Court yesterday sentenced Bhumjaithai (BJT) Party MP Ekarat Changlao to almost 13 years in jail for his involvement in embezzling 405 million baht from the Khon Kaen Teachers Saving Cooperative.
The jail sentence comprised 7.5 years for five counts of embezzlement and 5 years and 3 months for 21 counts of document forgery related to the embezzlement.
Ekarat had returned 100.5 million baht in total through four transfers from 2022 to 2024.
After sentencing, he requested bail pending appeal, and the court released him on a 3-million-baht bond and prohibited him from leaving the country.
